Throwback Thursday: The Orange Bird

Florida Orange Bird

After a 30 year hiatus, the Orange Bird is back

This week’s entry in Throwback Thursday is making a comeback – the Florida Orange Bird. The Florida Orange Bird was one of the original ambassadors of Walt Disney World. He was designed to signify the ties of the central Florida region to the citrus industry. Once upon a time you could find him in Adventureland – near the Sunshine Tree Terrace to be exact. Sadly, in 1981 he was gone and we all thought that the Orange Bird had gone the way of the dodo. But about a year ago I noticed him popping up on merchandise and now it looks like you can once again get Orange Bird gear. So head over to Adventureland and the Sunshine Tree Terrace, grab a citrus swirl and toast the return of the Orange Bird!
